The VC release was praised, rightfully so - it was a lot of fun even years later, and the import price of the game had shot up over the years so it was nice to see an affordable version on VC at $10. All of the game's UI was in English except for the very simple main menu, so it was an easy release. It was one of if not the first Japanese exclusive games to appear on VC - the reason being that Sin & Punishment actually required almost no translation. The game was unknown to most audiences until it was hyped up for a re-release on Virtual Console in 2007. The game released exclusively in Japan in 2000, and during the late N64 era it was one of the most sought-after Japanese imports (along with Bangai-O, another Treasure game that later released in NA/EU on the Dreamcast). It came from a dream team - developed by Treasure (makers of all-time-great run-and-guns and shmups like Gunstar Heroes, Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Radiant SIlvergun, Ikaruga, and McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure) and published by Nintendo.
