It is not overclocked at all by me, but it is the OC edition, which I assume means it comes with a bit of a factory overclock. The GPU and PC are brand new so there is no dust at all, the GPU never gets above 66c during gaming. Though it seems to be getting much longer before it happens now, which is odd. No specific games, it has happened at least once on all of them. XMP is currently disabled as of yesterday. Note: When I run things like Unigine Benchmarks, it occasionally stutters and there is the odd shadow flicker here and there, but it has never crashed. Spent a fair amount of money on this PC and not really got much enjoyment out of it since I bought it because I use it just waiting for something to go wrong. I'm no PC guru so if anyone can think of anything else that might be the cause it would be very much appreciated. I just get the feeling the graphical side of the PC just isn't totally stable. I also had a couple of bluescreens (Kernel error 141) and hard crashes where the entire screen goes all pixelated and just freezes, forcing a hard reset. A few issues with it aside from the crashes such as shadows/lighting/random flickers during gaming, terrible coil whine during gaming and also noticeable coil whine on the desktop when just moving the mouse. ![]() The main culprit I suspect could be the GPU. Seems at this point it's likely a hardware issue perhaps? Even though everything was bought brand new. Moved to Windows 11, then back to Windows 10 a handful of times I keep a close eye on the temps and they all seem fine, so I don't -think- it's that. Thing is sometimes it happens within 10 minutes of playing, sometimes it doesn't happen for hours. Never had this issue with previous computers either. It's unlikely, that sideFX can - without having direct access to your system and the resources to debug your system.I recently built a brand new PC (in the last month) and no matter what game I play, at some point it ends up crashing to the desktop with no errors. ![]() I am not saying that Houdini 18 is the most stable release ever (I am experiencing random crashes at completely different places than before), but if your installation “crashes reliably”, chances are that you CAN find the AREA of cause for that. ![]() Starting from a different user account, running library access snoopers, having a look into your syslog/notification log, cleaning up settings, checking graphic driver hickups and and and. ![]() Now, joking aside: There are SO MANY things you can do in order to circle in on the cause of the problem, most of which really depend on what system you are running. It is possible that your Finder has a defective resource file and a simple clean up of all resource files on your “desktop” will fix the issue. You might want to give a bit more information about your system - from the info you give above, I assume you are running Mac OS 7 with 32MB RAM and a Floppy Disk Drive. Even if you find someone who experienced that - if SideFX couldn't find a cure for the problem it is unlikely that being two users with that issue changes anything about it. Moin, I am not quite clear what you expect from users who may or may not encounter Houdini crashing “a few seconds of its launch”.
